Robothon 2004

September 25 and 26 is the Robothon! It's going to be right here in Seattle. I have an idea for a great robot too. I hoped I'd have a little more time to work on it, but I'm still going to give it my best shot. I hope to compete in the 3kg sumo competition. My robot will twirl around constantly, kinda like a top, so that the oponent robot will have a hard time pushing my robot around. If all goes well, any attempt at pushing will let my robot skitter off to the side. Of course this does limit my ability to push the oponent, but I hope the robot will spend most of its time spinning around near the edge so that when the opponent comes at me, I can just move out of the way and give him a little push in the right direction to send him over the edge. The control circuitry for this should be really simple. Since I won't need a heavy controller, I am considering entering the 0.5 kg competition instead. The size is very restrictive for that category though: 10cm square. Also, I wouldn't be able to use my favorite batteries.
